In 2019 the Nicholas D. Sergi Foundation partnered with the Elkhorn Area School District to begin the design and construction of the Nicholas D. Sergi Fitness and Nature Trail.
Fitness equipment (push n pull; core challenge; plyo blocks) is now installed and ready for use off East Market Street between Rotary Way and the Elkhorn Area Middle School. Branded signs and benches mark the way. The nature trail consists of trees, tall grasses, flowers, and natural wetland.
The Nicolas D. Sergi Foundation worked with Elkhorn YouthBuild, a youth apprenticeship program within the Career & College Academy, to construct two bridges on the property to ensure access and enhancement to the entire trail system.
Now, the community and students can enjoy this area for years to come.
